PBM Products, now Perrigo Nutritionals, was founded in 1997 by Paul B. Manning, who introduced the first store brand infant formulas in the United States.
Created with the mission to provide parents with high-quality, low-cost alternatives to expensive national brands, PBM became the first company to provide parents with affordable infant formula options they could trust by meeting the exacting standards of the FDA as outlined in the Infant Formula Act of 1980. PBM then acquired the state-of-the-art Wyeth Factory in Georgia, VT, the only ISO 9001:2000-certified, infant formula-manufacturing facility in the United States to make and distribute the formula under store brands of major U.S. retailers.
Expanding the business in 2009, PBM acquired a second facility in Covington, OH. In 2010, PBM became part of the Perrigo Company. Sharing the mission to provide consumers with high quality, low cost healthcare and nutrition products, the business partnership made Perrigo the largest manufacturer and distributor of store brand infant formula and nutrition products in the world—producing 14 infant formulas to 78 leading retailers in United States.
